Childrens Dragonfly Craft

Anyone who knows me knows that I love doing anything crafty and creative so id be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited every time munchkin gets home work as it gives me the extra excuse to get all of the craft box out! Although I have to remind myself that Munchkins homework has to be done by him with a little help from me and that  its not important that its perfect!
He had a letter from school saying they were doing a topic about bugs so they had to make a bug/insect to display on the board in school.
I went through every bug I could think of....spider, snail, ladybird, fly etc....much to my delight he choose Dragonfly! Dragonflies have a very special meaning to me so there are alot of dragonfly decor around our home and in my office! Last summer once a week we would go to this small pond by a picnic area local to us and we would enjoy watching the dragonflies darting around for ages.
Anyways enough of my babble here is how it went & how it turned out!

Here is what I used
  • wooden spoon
  • Paint brushes
  • Paint (doesn't have to be acrylic)
  • wings cut out of card
  • Foil paper (blue & silver)
  • Table craft cloth
  • PVA Glue (forgot to take a pic of this)

First of all we started by painting the wooden spoon in green (obviously you can choose any colours)

Once we finished painting it all we set it aside to dry

We then moved on to the wings. I put PVA glue all over the wings and let munchkin stick on the little squares that id cut up. (try not to cut the squared so small otherwise children will get bored as it will take forever)

Once majority of the wings had been covered I trimmed the pieces that were overlapping the edges.

I forgot to take a picture but I painted the underside of muchkins index finger and got him to wrap that finger around the stick, creating the stripes in blue.

Munchkin nagged to add more sparkle on the dragonflies wings so I asked him to go through the tub of jewels and remove some of the green and blue ones (colour recognition an all :-) He then stuck these on the wings, Did a little bit of finger painting on the head of the dragonfly and popped on some googly eyes.

I decided to use the glue gun to glue the wings on as my PVA doesn't seem very good.
Does anyone know if PVA glue can go off???

So there we are! he has his bug to take into school on Monday morning!

List Lover

This is such a random post but I prayed thought alot of you would be able to relate.

SO in my house i seem to have a growing collection of note books! Some are a4 size and some are tiny little ones that I always buy because they are 'handy to just pop in your bag' however once i have purchased these tiny ones i soon decide that they to small to be of use to me! So this tiny notebook will get thrown into a draw, bag etc And in a few months i will end up giving it to munchkin to play with!
New time I visit a shop that stocks stationary i will instantly feel the pull towards the stationary area....and I will most likely definitely end up buying a notebook of which will probably be a tiny cute one (that I will never use again)

I do however find a use for my larger note books! and that my lovely friends is......LISTS!!!

Yes you heard me ladies! What lady doesn't love lists!
I love reading them, I love making them, I love allocating them!

So My list obsession began when I was pregnant with munchkin! Lists of names we liked, list of things we needed etc!

So at this point it would only be right for me to make a list of my current lists!

A list of what lists I need to make
Food shopping lists
To do lists
what to pack (for holibobs!)
Wedding planning list
Guest list (wedding)
home improvement list
I think I'll stop there

I'm even as bad as too write a list then write it out again so that its 'final draft'.....am I organised or obsessed???
Please tell me I'm Not alone!!
Who else is a #listlover

My 'woman on a mission' week

so....the last few days have seen me spending a lot of time in the kitchen! Hubs-to-be is off work for a little while and its safe to say he loves eating biscuits, cakes, muffins and is a fan of pastries! I'm no Jamie Oliver but i like to have a dabble!

Earlier in the week I did a post about some yummy biscuits that I made! you can find the blag post along with the recipe here Butter Biscuits

Yesterday I decided to make corned beef pasties, pies and bakes! Ive gotta be honest, I enjoyed making these as its something different from what I usually make and they tasted amazing (yep I'm on my diet and should have had any but hey ho)
I cheated and used the ready made puff pastry and just as in the name it puffed up a right treat!!
Here is a pic of how some turned out (some were still in the oven)

Basically I cooked some potatoes and Mashed them then added a tin of corned beef, mashed it in and let it cool.
I rolled out the puff pastry and placed a side plate on top and cut around it, then put some of the corned beef mix into the one half, pupped some whisked egg around the edges and folded it over creating a semi circle, press the edges down firmly with your finger tips to seal.
Using a pastry brush, brush some egg onto the top of the pasty to create a golden brown colour once cooked.
Pop in the oven until golden brown!
Yum Yum!
Oh you can also see some mini ones I made too!

We moved into our new home back in September and we cant wait to sort the garden!
So last week I decided to buy a jet washer as we have been going on about cleaning the Patio ever since we moved in!
We decided to buy the Black and Decker pressure washer on sale at the moment at £59.99

Its safe to say that I'm getting on with it a right treat! Here is just 2 BEFORE pictures (I will post some after pictures once I've finished it all)

So as i said this is the before pictures and it was that kind of task you look forward to getting stuck into but half way through you just want to give up and go for a nice cuppa!
I also underestimated the amount of mess it would create of ME.....I mean i knew there was a risk so i popped on a pair of my old jeans.
This was me half way through..........

So its going to be a wellington job next time!
I know people may say....'jet washing your patio in February??? Basically its never been done in 17 years so i wanted to get the hard work done now and then it may only need a quick wash nearing summer!
I also gave the shrubs and bushes a trim back and changed the bulbs in the water feature in the garden!
Woman on a mission!!

Oh, and I started to paint our en suite!

So if you haven't gathered by now....Andy will do things when its essential (that's not me saying hes lazy because he isn't....if i ask him to do something he will do it (within a few days or so))
But me.......I get an idea in my head and I've gotta go and do it! Andy knows not to stop me when I'm on a mission :-)

My next blog is going to be about how we keep out son entertained as he is on the go all the time! and every now and again really need that structured activity to calm him down a bit!

Catch up with you soon
xx
